Republicans love to hurt us. They really do. They routinely sabotage our economy, our democracy, our climate, our elections, and our laws. They’re willing to hurt our friends, neighbors, and even our children. And not only do we let them hurt us, we re-elect them because of the damage they’ve done. I mean, what else explains why we don’t take a party that opposes public health and beat them with sticks?

On the economy, polling shows that most people trust Republicans more than Democrats. That’s crazy, of course. The evidence is clear: the economy — growth, jobs, wages, benefits — all improve more under Democrats. And it’s by a lot. Even the stock market, which is not the economy, is better under Democrats. Republicans aren’t just bad at governance; they’re corrupt. They’re constantly trying to rig fair markets to reward their donors. They make the worst economic decisions. “Let’s subvert the Federal Reserve so we can lower interest rates!” Anti-monopoly laws? Fair housing? Consumer protections? Silly Democratic ideas. That’s girly stuff! No real man would need the government to hold their hand that way!

They do everything they can to break the government. They want things to run slower, clumsier, and with less compassion. Then they point to the wreckage they just caused and insist that everything is the Democrats’ fault. “Give us power back, because only we can fix this.” I guess they know where the bad parts are when they caused them. They’re monkeywrenching assholes.

Right now, Republicans are getting off on long TSA lines in airports. They could masturbate to the pictures for all I know. Lines out the door? Travel becoming impossible? All our suffering? What an opportunity to get what they want!

Do I hear someone giggling?

The Big Surprise here is that it’s all a lie. Again. Democrats have offered full TSA funding with no conditions or restrictions several times now. Republicans vote each one down. They need to keep things broken and Americans suffering. It serves their purposes. Otherwise, they couldn’t go on chat shows and emote about how unfair it is that Democrats won’t help people out. And since they bought all the newspapers, TV stations, and cable shows, there’s nobody left to point that out. No, Kristen Welker won’t tell you squat about that.

And now they’re talking about deploying heavily armed ICE goons at airports as if they have any jurisdiction for that. Or legal standing. Or training. Or just any real purpose other than harassing random brown and black people.

No, ICE agents can’t search you. They can’t run any of the machines. They can’t legally help the TSA arrest anyone. They can’t even guard the doors for them.

But they’ll make everyone’s lives worse. I guarantee that part. And Republicans will use our suffering to push for even more of what they want.

And we’ll give it to them because we’re gullible idiots.

Sure would be nice if there were a real opposition party to push back.
