Fuck you, Donald Trump, you droopy, limp loser. You always have been, long before you couldn’t stop shitting yourself. I’m sure he hates the Artemis launch. And he should, because it’s a thumb in the eye to his scared, racist, sexist, anti-science soul.

I’m a long-term NASA guy. Worked at Goddard Space Flight Center my whole career. I’ve supported manned and unmanned missions, networks, and all the support groups. Mostly Earth Science. You know, the health and safety of our planet? And I had the honor of examining groups across the Center. Let me tell you, there were wonderful people doing amazing things with almost no resources. Everyone — everyone — knew how to scrounge.

And tonight, I’m watching the Artemis launch in fear. I was scared (I was watching Challenger), I was inspired, and nearly in tears. My god! So many new achievements.

From the beginning, Trump let Musk and his DOGE goons slash at NASA without focus. They didn’t know anything and weren’t interested in ‘waste.’ They didn’t care what worked. They were kids pretending to be adults. They were lying to everyone because they didn’t want you to know how clueless they really were.

Goddard is a huge campus with the largest group of scientists, technicians, and engineers in the US. They’ve been developing Earth and space science flight missions for generations. They have a priceless depth of operational knowledge there.

I know people think NASA gets big money. Yeah, that’s not how it works. Budgets are always tight. And yet, these projects find a way. Everyone manages, doing critical work with almost no money. And they make do, building amazing things out of crap and leftovers. I think they still run a few old DOS computers. Hey, they still work.

But Trump randomly fired half of these critical people. Talk about stupid shit. There are nine major Centers, and I assume it’s the same at all of them. I’m talking about Goddard because I know people there.

Trump’s people directed NASA to close about half the buildings at Goddard on almost no notice. These buildings are filled with delicate equipment and one-of-a-kind engineering marvels. They gave scientists and project managers a day or two to strip out anything they wanted to keep.

It’s deliberate. No research for you. And no, you shall not know the truth about the climate. It doesn’t fit Trump’s agenda. And he doesn’t care that he’s trashing important stuff we’ve spent decades developing. So, yeah, he’s shoving all that money you’ve spent down the drain.

Artemis is an inspiring launch. One astronaut was Canadian; one was from Goddard; two are from Maryland. People of color. Multinational. Women of achievement. That’s NASA. We’re proud of that.

Trump hates every part of the competence that makes us exemplary. Women achieving new things gives him hives. Black people terrify him. Canadians? I can’t even imagine.

But mostly, Trump and MAGA hate science. I mean, they hate science. That’s why they’re killing NASA and every important piece of research the federal government owns.

I expect that Trump will try to paint a big red “T” on this launch at some point. He’ll try to take credit. But never forget: Trump wouldn’t have made this launch. If he’d paid attention, he’d have ditched the crew and put up four feckless loyalists. All white men.

Here’s the takeaway: Trump is deliberately and intentionally destroying critical science that’s taken decades to create. He’s breaking important stuff and shredding NASA. He’s gleefully cutting their hamstrings so he can watch them bleed to death. It’s who he is.
