Consider the logistics of a Republican Revolution. If the Republican Revolution captures the Midwest and the South, that splits the east and west coasts. At a minimum, it isolates California. Talk about a logistical nightmare! Warfare consumes insane levels of supplies. This new Civil War could be much harder for the Union to win.
I just read Nathan’s post about the Republican Revolution. Yes, the GOP is breaking bad, and holy fuck, but it’s scary. America is seriously unprepared for the kind of shooting war that gives Republican gun-nuts wet dreams. Unlike the last Civil War, the new Union would not have a unified transportation network, while the new South has extensive roads and rail lines. And the Republican New South wouldn’t be the slave-based agrarian old South. And they’d have plenty of military hardware and industry manufacturing capacity. This would not be a slam-dunk win. The Union could lose this American Civil War.
It’s not as if we couldn’t see Republicans tearing at America’s social fabric. There wasn’t any part of ‘society’ they didn’t attack as an assault on scared white Incel “freedom.” And our news media averted their eyes, pretending not to see what was in front of them.
Russian President-For-Life Vladimir Putin must be chortling. Look at the payback for such a small investment. He bought the NRA, the Republican Party, and possibly the Evangelical Community, all while spending less than a billion dollars. And now the country is tearing itself apart in a new Civil War. Talk about a bargain!
