Did Trump attack that Syrian airfield as part of a larger strategy, or was this the act of a politician, trying to defuse TV images of poisoned children gasping for air?
Does Trump have any idea of what to do next? Until a few minutes ago, the US voices of authority — the Secretary of State and the President — were saying that both Syria and President Bashar Al-Assad weren’t really a US issue.
And today, he starts a war.
Many commentators have characterized the bombing attack as “…The least attack possible to make a statement.” We don’t know if Trump warned the Russians of the coming attack in advance. We hope he did, since dead Russians would escalate everything.
But I still doubt that Trump has thought about more than the first few minutes of this action. Trump, and the Republicans who continue to prop him up, haven’t shown any understanding about how to plan for peace. They revel in war to an obscene level, and just stop there.
