Climate Destruction Blindness
Lytton, British Columbia, set the Canadian temperature record. It burned to the ground that very day. And our media covered the heat but not the fire. Is climate destruction too scary?

A few days ago, I criticized the news media’s slavish dedication to Republican Brainworms: parasitic memes the GOP coined to disguise their attacks in emotion). Today, the Washington Post automatically repeated the Republican “Stimulus” label for Biden’s COVID Disaster Relief bill.
And so I’m sharing.
I read a Washington Post headline so filled with GOP brainworms, it nearly ate my mind. Our modern media pats themselves on the back as ‘woke,’ but that’s self-congratulatory claptrap. They still swallow Republican attack-memes unquestioningly and spit them back at us.
In September, Poppy Harlow did real reporting. In her interview of Deputy Press Secretary Morgenstern, she didn’t accept nonsense answers. I think I’m in love.
Major media sources continue their breathless coverage of the election by repeating the usual horserace nonsense. Haven’t they learned anything? They focus on the latest polls as if it measures something besides name recognition. They like it because the numbers change a lot. But drama isn’t the same as ‘news.’

Why are so many people confusing tactics and strategy? I was listening to TV media talking about the Trump Doctrine. For some reason, they all pretend such a doctrine exists, and that he’s not just making it up as he goes. Why do we need one? Well, because he started...
Poetry and drama matter. When the Syfy cable channel began broadcasting their new series “The Expanse”, I was conflicted. I’ve read the novels by ‘James S. A. Corey’ (a pseudonym for Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck), and I like them a lot. At the same time, like any writing that’s...
We need to be careful about how we treat people who lie to us. Today’s online version of the Washington Post has a story about how, With a deadline looming, nobody is threatening to shut down the government. Whoa, hey! Sounds like good news. Here’s how it starts: Congress is...
The Washington Post fails to learn from past experience. Yesterday The Washington Post published their article Trump taps Kushner to lead a SWAT team to fix government with business ideas, and it’s another confabulation. They got an exclusive announcement, which is fine, but they used the glossy descriptions in it...
