Each time Republicans refuse to limit suffering, pain, or despair, we pretend they are acting honorably, and we just disagree. Sure, the GOP regularly disdained mercy, but we still tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. It seemed polite. But what if that’s not true? Are Republicans evil?
We’re reposting the FindAClearTruth video about Trump’s speech in Tulsa. It’s long, rambling, petty, disjointed, and ultimately hilarious. I hate the term at the end, but I was laughing out loud anyway. I think this is art.
Forget about police violence for a second. When we depend on fines & penalties to pay the bills, the institutional roots of racism are baked into the Justice system. We are directly responsible, but we can fix it, too.
The Coronavirus is the “US Pandemic.” Every week, the US government earns the right to wear the crown. The US will top the charts (and graphs) in most cases, total deaths, and absolute worst centralized response coordination, coupled with some of the lowest testings rates. It didn’t have to be this way.
Anyone promising the old normal is lying. We can’t go back, not ever and especially not soon. The COVID-19 pandemic has already changed how we work, how we eat, how we socialize, sports, shopping, restaurants, travel, parties, weddings, funerals, everything. It’s silly to pretend otherwise. The oligarchs are liars willing to spend your lives for their comfort.
Americans are bad at math. The US daily COVID-19 positive rates only look steady because we aren’t testing any more people.
Every week we test 100K and find another 30K new infections. That’s not what “getting better” looks like. But no, we won’t find any better answers when the best we manage is testing one maybe person in 3000.
Republicans know retribution works. They savage every critic, every time. Reporters hold back the next time, especially the big corporate news, worried them might block their employer next time. Politicians either go quiet or suck up to Trump, so he doesn’t withhold the supplies they need to save people’s lives. And that silence leaves most of us in the dark at the worst possible time. Sorry, but crime pays.
Our Republican leaders fail us. They cling to their pretense of strong defense, but they only want guns and bombs. Disease, a well-known threat vector, confounds them. In a pandemic, national defense means healthcare. But that’s like climate change: heretical to orthodox Republicans. They elevate ideology over reality.
