President Donald Trump was eating dinner with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, when they received news that North Korea had launched a ballistic missile. They held an open conversation about the event, opening paper and electronic documents, surrounded by other Mar-a-Lago guests who’s only qualification to view classified documents was that they were rich. I’m sure all the Republicans how railed […]
We already know National Security Advisor Michael Flynn lied repeatedly about his Russian contacts several times on February 8th. When confronted directly by intelligence officials — with transcripts of his conversations — Flynn admitted he might have mentioned the Russian sanctions, but couldn’t remember. I’d have thought having CIA transcripts in front of him might refresh his memory. Two officials have already said that the […]
I just watched Meet the Press, and went online to read the transcript of his interview with Stephen Miller, Trump’s senior policy advisor. Or I tried to. I had to stop. There was just so much dishonesty in his fixed talking points. This stuff is painful to work through.
Trump’s tweet about the Ninth Circuit decision was wonderfully surreal: SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 8, 2017 I’m assuming he thought spitting ‘See you in court’ would intimidate his enemies. Maybe it’s something he yells a lot when he gets mad. It doesn’t seem like an especially productive thing to spout at a panel of […]
This time it’s Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) pretending that the people yelling at him must be paid agents from his enemies. According to the Deseret News: SALT LAKE CITY — Rep. Jason Chaffetz said the raucous reception he received at Thursday evening’s town hall meeting was “bullying and an attempt at intimidation” from a crowd opposed to President Donald Trump’s election.
It’s hard to know if Trump is just spreading chaff to distract people, or if he’s really this deranged. The Washington Post reports that, during a Senate meeting to discuss the Neil Gorsuch Supreme Court nomination, Trump went off-script, complained that he only lost New Hampshire because of the thousands of people bused from Massachusetts to vote illegally. He didn’t even suggest there was evidence of […]
Last evening, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents raided homes and businesses. While they didn’t release any information, ICE denied reports they were detaining 100 people. Their official spokesperson admitted the raids happened, but insisted they only targeted “individuals who pose a risk to our communities.” They admitted today that this wasn’t true. Advocates and lawyers said that ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations agents detained […]
The New York Times reports that Michael Flynn was talking with the Russians starting well before the election. The reports say that Flynn wasn’t directly promising that Trump would rescind Obama’s sanctions, but it was a clear implication. Worse, this call was only one of a series of calls and contacts prior to Trump’s inauguration.
