So, I counted Trump’s tweet since my last article. What the hell, it’s only 34 tweets so far. (Hard to believe Trump actually holds down a day job. You’d think his boss would be getting on his case about wasting so much company time.) The biggest issue on Trump’s mind — 8 tweets — were about Puerto Rico. Sort of. Three Trump tweets were how […]
Lesson 1 – Hard Lesson to Black Americans I’m calling it. Trump tells America that Free Speech is for White Americans only. Black Americans, nope, you’re fired. This lesson repeats the one from August 12th. President Trump supports free speech for the “Right” causes. Stand up for free speech firmly, loudly, swinging flaming torches and firing weapons into crowds. Openly shout hatred against non-white Americans. […]
I just counted the Trump tweets, starting at his first mention of Hurricane Harvey until a few minutes ago. I thought it might give me a view into the heart of Trumpness. (Plus, it’s still better than actually reading the damn things.) Trump first mentioned Hurricane Harvey on August 24th, a day before landfall. Since then, Trump has focused tons of his limited attention […]
Republicans, the party of rural America, the party of real Americans — working Americans, patriotic Americans — are, as usual, looking to screw those Americans in favor of their new corporate gods. And the FCC doesn’t care, either. One of the goals of the Federal Communications Commission is to get more people fast access to the Internet. They’ve struggled for years with it. There are […]
As a white man, I’m deeply embarrassed. How could I have believed the racist stories? The same way I believed all those stories when I was a kid. Yes, I’m a white guy. And I’m not just vaguely white, I’m a seriously white guy. In American race relations, I don’t epitomize ‘clueless,’ but I might be in contention for the title. I was raised in […]
Admin Note: Crediting Authors
People have told us that it’s difficult to know who wrote each post. We have several different authors, who are also a little put off by that. The site lists authors names on single-post pages, but not on the main page. Unfortunately, having the system add ‘written by’ to each post is harder than it looks. You’d think it would be simple, but the overall […]
I was watching a level of lying on CNN yesterday that was so breathtaking, I still struggle to understand it. I’m trying not to jump to anger because anger doesn’t help me. (Plus, ‘jumping to anger’ is pretty much Chockamo’s job description, and he does it so much better.) It was an impossible mix of disingenuous lying and misogyny. I wrote a couple of notes […]
Some things are hard not to notice. Like Trump telling Mexico to drop dead. After Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, Mexico offered significant aid to America. They provided huge support after Hurricane Katrina, with meals, portable water treatment facilities, and the like, and they made a similar offer now to Texas. They did this despite Trump’s insults because denying aid to hurting people would be insane. […]
