Vicious Ted Cruz: a crusty scab on the body politic: a smear on the road to better things; and a fart into the mouth of democracy.

Derek Chauvin was just found guilty of murdering George Floyd. Democrats are in the news, but where are the Republicans? They’re the hardline, pro-police party. They’re guilty of inciting racial murder. We can’t let the GOP pretend this gristly homicide doesn’t touch them.
It’s no surprise that Sen. Ron Johnson is a racist, but what about the GOP? All we hear in response is the sound of Republican silence. Can’t they comment? Either the GOP has become the racists they play on TV, or they’re such cowards they can’t stand up for the most minimal racial standards. Or both, I suppose.
No matter the voters’ problems or desires, Republicans reply to every calamity with the same answer: more tax cuts for the rich and powerful. I mean, it’s politically insane, but off they go anyway.
In America, the majority doesn’t have absolute power. We want the minority to have a strong voice. But current rules go too far, giving Republicans veto power. With a tweak to the Senate cloture rules, we could get back to a fair filibuster.
The GOP used to obstruct good governance when it helped them get reelected. But now they just block everything they can, even when it hurts their party. Is this some new Republican Death Cult?
America’s first Constitution demonstrated that supermajorities don’t make for good governance. It was a recipe for obstruction and inaction. The filibuster is the same. We already know it doesn’t make better laws. We can fix it.
Texas and Mississippi cancelled mask mandates and crowding limits. State-level Republican leaders are perfectly willing to kill innocent people so they can pretend they’re manly. Stop pretending they’re working in good faith; they’re perfectly willing for you to suffer and die.
