Will the RNC Ante Up Trump’s Taxes, Too?
The RNC is paying Trump’s legal bills, promising $1.6M so far. The CREW organization reminds us that this money is personal income for Trump’s next taxes.
Corruption, duplicity, thievery, and deception.

Texas Republicans don’t just want to hurt women so badly, they’re aiming at the rule of law and the Constitution itself. Republicans gave their attack machine a shiny new weapon and pointed them at their enemies. The Texas law is the insurgency firing another shot in the Republican Civil War II.
We pretend the authorities were simply overwhelmed. The Senate witnesses contradicted each other, recasting the blame. The News Media assume “underestimated” as if it were the only option. But suppose our paramilitary leaders allowed the rioters to sack the Capitol. What if they wanted the Insurrection to win?
We all watched as Trump launched his coup. We saw heroism and betrayal. How will we deal with sedition and insurrection in the Trump party, police, and military? This problem won’t end when Trump leaves power.
The New York Times got a copy of Trump’s tax returns. Besides being a tax cheat, Trump has payments of half a billion dollars due in the next few years. That’s why Trump hides behind the Presidency so hard.
This is a Trump corruption update. A month ago, I predicted Trump would attack democracy. I suggested several possible angles he might use to split our society down fracture lines. How’s it going so far?
Republicans spent months stoking Coronavirus into a wildfire. They want sick Americans. What do they want to do to us while we’re busy trying to survive?
We’re weeks away from falling into an economic crash. Vast swaths of retail are closing or “Going Out of Business!” But because stocks are up, McConnell is blocking any action.
What happens after Trump loses the 2020 election? America will still have almost three months of Trump rule. Trump may be indifferent to America, but he’ll be in a complete panic about himself. We need to plan for that time, too.
Dealing with Trump is depressing, but some predictions about Trump are possible. He’s looking at an election he’ll lose. Here are a few of my predictions about the ways he might cheat.
Dealing with Trump is hard. When he’s caught lying, he doubles down. And now Trump and the Republicans are attacking the 2020 election they know they’ll lose. If we don’t anticipate what they’ll do, we’ll react too slowly to matter.
We need to deal with Trump between now and the 2020 Presidential election. In 2016, we gave terrible powers to a madman with no boundaries and disdain for the rule of law. Now that he’s losing badly, he’ll do everything possible to stop, corrupt, or suppress the election. We can’t just react; we need to think ahead to beat them.
President Trump’s Senate trial has started, and Sen. McConnell has already declared the result. Bad start.
Will Republicans ever admit the truth? President Donald Trump is morally indefensible. He’s a self-destructive narcissist who compulsively violates laws and norms. Republicans normally attack someone like Trump reflexively. Instead, because he’s one of them, he gets a free pass. Worse, the Republican party, already out of control, follow him off that cliff. They know they’re killing their party for a generation, but they can’t stop.
Think about the Republican party’s future. Suppose the corrupt Trump administration ends peacefully instead of a Republican coup. The GOP already showed they would burn America down before they’d relinquish power. They bet their future on America falling before the check comes due. What will they do if we’re still a democracy in a year?
American media loves to ask about domestic terrorism as if it’s a insoluble mystery, even though no other industrialized country is close. The New York Times reprinted: “What Explains U.S. Mass Shootings?” His research takes simple numbers (guns per capita, total guns vs. mass shooters, etc.) and shows us the obvious answers.
Consider Both-Siderism, where commentators pretend that both sides of every issue are equally relevant. Some (
I know we’re all focused on the criminal President Donald Trump. It’s his biggest talent. But look away from such a big, orange, squalling baby. We need to think about the Senate a lot harder. If the Republicans keep their Senate majority, Mitch McConnell will block everything, from legislation to the courts. Nothing will change. Democrats need to flip the Senate, too.
