Trump promises violence. That’s no surprise. The President started launching the Republican autocracy four years ago. Every day is another numbing debasement. But promising violence during the election matters.
Now we know: the official GOP policy is to do nothing about COVID. They tout “herd immunity,” that, at a minimum, means two hundred million Americans getting COVID-19 and suffering the short- and long-term consequences, and millions dying. And even then, herd immunity might not work
President Trump’s confession to Bob Woodward proves he knew how bad COVID-19 was. While Trump hid inside his bubble of 100 percent, 15-minute COVID testing, he and his Republicans pushed the rest of us into pointless danger. The GOP is still knowingly and deliberately infecting Americans with the Coronavirus.
As dangerous as Trump is to democracy, and as violently as he acts out for the cameras, I worry about the Republican silence. Is there any crime or corruption they won’t quietly accept? Whether they’re cowards or the party of imbecilic compliance, we need to vote them out of office up and down the ticket.
The Transition Integrity Project (TIP) is wargaming the 2020 election. They gave four election scenarios to a bipartisan group of politicians, experts, pollsters, and strategists. Their results were detailed, plausible, and frightening, but they suggest how to soften our worst vulnerabilities.
This is a Trump corruption update. A month ago, I predicted Trump would attack democracy. I suggested several possible angles he might use to split our society down fracture lines. How’s it going so far?
Democrats still defer to Republican lies. By repeating idiotic arguments, Democrats position themselves based on those bad-faith Republican lies. Don’t accept or repeat lies. Instead, speak the truth. They’re liars, dishonest and corrupt.
