What happened to spending money on ourselves? Water problems like Flint or Compton are known issues, predicted for decades. They’re nobody’s surprise, but we won’t do much anyway. Infrastructure isn’t sexy. Instead, we build new stuff we also can’t maintain, crushing our climate and bankrupting our children, who’ll inherit impossible bills because we couldn’t cover the important things for them.
Last week, Donald Trump, President and overall idiot, attacked four Democratic Congresspeople in vile, racist ways. He reveled in getting his crowd to change “Send her back.” His goal was to capture the news cycle away from Mueller, and it worked. He rolled in glee, then denied it to the press, lying about his lie, and captured the press again. He’s a master and the media are his marks.

I know we’re all focused on the criminal President Donald Trump. It’s his biggest talent. But look away from such a big, orange, squalling baby. We need to think about the Senate a lot harder. If the Republicans keep their Senate majority, Mitch McConnell will block everything, from legislation to the courts. Nothing will change. Democrats need to flip the Senate, too.
Major media sources continue their breathless coverage of the election by repeating the usual horserace nonsense. Haven’t they learned anything? They focus on the latest polls as if it measures something besides name recognition. They like it because the numbers change a lot. But drama isn’t the same as ‘news.’
A few high-level federal employees are lying to all of us. These are public employees the American public pays to work for us. They swear an oath to act in our interests. And yet they’re lying to us, the American people. They use the trappings of federal authority – stuff...
