Just in case anyone wondered if President Donald Trump was irrational, his Iran war should help clear the air. Trump is punishing Iran with sanctions, restrictions, and now, acts of war, all to get… something. “A better deal!” bellows the man-child who couldn’t describe the significant elements of the existing deal he unilaterally broke. It’s all empty noise for the cameras. Trump is a vacant shell.
The trick with hostile negotiations is to have clear goals for both sides. You’re trying to push them toward something they don’t want. The goal has to be less painful than the alternative. Secretary John Kerry and his staff worked on the deal for months, carefully aligning the goals of each side. They managed to include our allies in their agreement. In the end, they negotiated and began a complete, careful arrangement between us, our allies, and Iran.
Trump blew it up. The carefully architected and negotiated deal is gone. It was stringent, restrictive, and Iran hated it, but they grudgingly accepted the deal. The Obama administration verified Iran were keeping to the terms. Even Trump’s administration confirmed the Iranians still complied. And Trump withdrew America, alone, like he was angrily breaking someone else’s toys.
What does Trump expect Iran to do now? Will they strike another deal with the country and the President that walked away from the last contract without cause? It’s like Trump’s other businesses. The guy’s a deadbeat; nobody will strike a deal with him.
Trump’s beef with Iran is fake. Trump’s speeches are all lies and bad faith. The Republican toadies mirror his empty bombast. And all our critical news services know all if that.
Nothing I’m writing is a surprise.

Makes you wonder why the press decided not to ask the right questions. We all know the Republican Party will roll over and allow Trump’s new Iran war, sitting on their hands while Trump causes thousands of people — Americans and Iranians — to die in horrible violence, hunger, and disease.
