Jesus fucking Christ! Banned words? Thought crimes? Is this Trump guy a halfwit or what? I talked about this in Control the Language to Control the Argument, but that was complex language control by smart people. Trump is just bone-thick stupid; he can’t pull this off, can he?
Sure, Trump put political commissars into our agencies to ensure ideological purity. To Donald Trump! And sure, he replaced as many non-partisan professionals with his personal flunkies.
But openly banning specific words? Doesn’t Trump have any sense of history?
Apparently not. Maybe that would involve reading.
Anyway, here they are:
- “Vulnerable”
- “Diversity”
- “Entitlement”
- “Transgender”
- “Fetus”
- “Evidence-based”
- “Science-based”
The last two are the worst examples, for me. Want to know their suggested alternative?
The CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes.
“…In consideration with community standards…”, and, just for that last coffin-nail, “…and wishes.” That way, facts don’t really hold. American communities are safe in case anyone is squinked by, you know, racial justice or icky trans people. (And no, they don’t care what those actual people think.) Besides, there’s that trailing “…and wishes” part. You know, just in case someone only vaguely wishes an actual fact not to be true. That’ll be all it takes.
These words join the classics: ‘climate change’, ‘Paris Agreement’, ‘Russian Interference’, and the others. Things Trump wants to pretend don’t exist.
And now Trump doesn’t have to think about those bad, bad words anymore. Nope! Trump’s banned them! Just like all the other federal data his butt-monkey’s wiped off our government websites.
