Who here would be surprised and shocked — shocked! — that Donald Trump lied to us? Hands? Anyone?
Yeah, me neither.
With all of the recently reported electronic surveillance, intercepts, unmasking and illegal leaking of information, I have no idea…
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 22, 2017…whether there are “tapes” or recordings of my conversations with James Comey, but I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings.

As an old dude, I’ve lived in both the north and the south, and that gives me two sides about this. The ‘southern guy’ side of me said a long time ago that Trump is a liar and a coward, and he has no honor. The northern side sorta agrees that, yeah Trump is… well, kind of a butthole.
So neither side of me was surprised when Trump finally admitted today that he has no recordings of his dinner conversation with former FBI Director James Comey. Not really news, there, Bucky.
I don’t mean to sound superior when I say that. It’s not like all the news people in DC didn’t already know the answer. Trump and Comey had dinner in the Presidential residence, not the oval office. While the President’s working spaces are run by loyalists and zealots, the residence is run by non-partisan, career employees. Some of these people have been there for decades, and they’re proud of their long service.
The career people are reverential to the office, the idea of the Presidency as a concept (no matter who’s been elected recently), and the historic facilities they operate and maintain. They aren’t going to be drilling holes in the priceless antique woodwork to wire electronic bugs. Everyone with the slightest clue knew from the get-go that Trump’s ‘tapes’ were nonsense.
And yet, the media played along as Trump did his silly, “I’ll bet lots of people will be surprised,” nonsense. Notice they didn’t mention any of that stuff to you, their purported audience? Gotta wonder about that a little.
And Trump? WTF? What a douche-bag! It’s like he still think he’s on TV, and not the President of the United States of America.
