I’m still a little shocked at how casually the White House lies about stupid stuff.
When NBC asked the White House spokeswoman about the Comey hearings, the press corps could hear every TV in the White House playing the Senate hearing. And yet deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders insisted that it was just an ordinary Thursday at the White House, and nobody was making a big deal about the testimony that was still echoing through the briefing room door.
I started out writing that it’s insulting to be lied to so baldly, but honestly, it’s well past that. They lie about everything, even when it’s trivial. They lie automatically, even there’s no chance we’ll be fooled. It’s almost desperate. That’s not insulting, it’s unhealthy.
It’s like watching Trump himself that way.
