Occam’s Razor.

According to the Washington Post, President of the United States Donald J. Trump announced that the U.S. is poised to ramp up military in Afghanistan. This would be reopening the war that has already run for 16 years.
Why? Because former Attorney General Sally Yates had just testified in an open session of Congress, explaining some of what she’d told the Trump Administration about then-NSA nominee Michael Flynn had said and done. While she couldn’t be too specific, she clearly showed that the Trump administration had been lying about Michael Flynn deeply, consistently, and with deliberate intent.
As I said, when your approach to problems is to throw out distractions, each new example forces you to escalate the severity of the distraction.
I’d have to say that the administration declaring a new war front counts as new and bigger than lying about wiretapping.
How damaging is Yates’ full testimony, when she’s actually allowed to talk about classified information?
I’m not saying that Trump and his administration were negotiating with the Russians, or offering them concessions on sanctions in return for something.
But…
There are a range of possible motives and conditions that explain their current behavior. It started out as a quite broad set of options. With each new fact, many of those options no longer make sense. At this point, there just aren’t that many possibilities left standing. And in the middle sits ‘Russian collusion’, and none of the new facts have ever reduced the possibility of that being the true explanation.
I don’t know Trump colluded with the Russians. Nobody probably does except Trump and his inner circle. At this point, though, it’s the explanation that requires the fewest assumptions to be true. Everything else requires some seriously crazy mental twists to fit the facts so far.
