I know I’m going to wear out that headline.

Trump’s recent Executive Order to ban federal funds from any ‘Sanctuary City’ failed a court review. Decisively. The judge graded it quite poorly.
Nobody was especially surprised.
Sure, Trump’s a dingleberry, but more to the point, he’s deeply incompetent git. He didn’t do his homework, and it shows. Congressional actions are called ‘laws’ for a reason. The President can’t add or subtract conditions to them just on his personal say-so. This Executive action never had a chance in hell of succeeding.
Trump has no clue. So… what? He didn’t want to run it by someone who actually knows what they’re doing? Or maybe he did, but his staff were afraid to tell him the bad news? (“Boss!! The boats are steaming south!”) Too cheap to hire a ghostwriter?
It’s possible this was just another stunt for his ‘base’ (a concept that reiterates his misunderstanding of democracy). Bread and circuses. (Well, maybe just the “circuses” part.) That might explain why he didn’t bother putting in the minimum effort, although it hardly justifies it.
It’s like watching a poorly raised toddler try to write laws. Are we living through some evil version of Tom Hank’s “Big”?
Update: Trump tweeted against the Ninth Circuit after his sanctuary cities Executive Order.
First the Ninth Circuit rules against the ban & now it hits again on sanctuary cities-both ridiculous rulings. See you in the Supreme Court!

“See you in (mumble) court!” Apparently, the Trump Doctrine includes the principle that “Trump shall never learn from past mistakes.”
Problem is, this injunction was issued by U.S. District Judge William Orrick, not the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. If Trump actually does appeal the injunction, he’ll appeal to the Ninth. Maybe his trying to anticipate the result?
