Interestingly, we get a lot of Russian kids working in the Washington DC area. They come over on J-1 visas to work here, work for minimum wages, and hopefully, see a bit of the real America. Everyone wins.
The Washington Post reports that ICE immigration arrests of noncriminals double under Trump. The article says:
Immigration arrests rose 32.6 percent in the first weeks of the Trump administration, with newly empowered federal agents intensifying their pursuit of not just undocumented immigrants with criminal records, but also thousands of illegal immigrants who have been otherwise law-abiding.
Trump is trying to hire hundreds of new judges, so we can quickly deport people with families — including American children — even as they’re appealing their deportation. Along with many new judges, they want a whole lot more ICE agents. To get enough, they’re talking about lower their hiring standards by more than a little.
And all we hear about are Mexicans, Central and South Americans being deported.
Huh. I’m pretty sure at least a few of those many, many Russian and Balkan kids are overstaying the summer. It looks like Trump doesn’t have a problem with them. Interesting. Is that because they’re Russian, or because they’re kids?
Or because they’re not brown?
