Life in the post-truth landscape.

I chose a busy time for my vacation. Thank god. I didn’t miss it at all.
Look, this is what kind of week it’s been. Earlier in the week, the Wall Street Journal had a huge scoop: Michael Flynn, while working as both Trump’s National Security Advisor and a secretly paid agent of the Turkish government, plotted with Turkish government to kidnap Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish cleric and dissident legally living in Pennsylvania. Turkey hates Mr. Gulen.
And by this weekend, it’s not even on most highlights reels.
Let me say that again. Trump’s senior Security Advisor plotted to illegally abduct a legal US resident to a country where he’d be imprisoned, possibly tortured, and where they might kill him. Flynn did this while also working secretly as a foreign agent, against the US interests.
Any earlier administration would have already been under independent investigations and possible impeachment. I mean, hell, Republicans investigated Bill Clinton for six years and millions of public dollars over a failed real estate deal where he lost money, and impeached him for lying about consensual sex.
That’s where we are now. Remember this the next time Republicans crow about being the morally superior party.
