FBI Becomes Part of the Scandal
Jeff Sessions lied during his confirmation hearing. He did talk to the Russian Ambassador several times. The FBI monitors the Russian Ambassador 24 hours a day, including his phone calls and everyone he talks to. The US Attorney General knows this.
So why on earth didn’t the FBI mention before now that Jeff Sessions had lied under oath to Congress during his confirmation hearing? It’s been leaked, so we finally found out, but why didn’t they do something earlier?
And now it seems the FBI is stonewalling the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation of the Trump Russia connections.
According to the Washington Post (Partisanship rift continues in House panel probing Russia), after a Gang of Eight met with FBI Director Comey for three hours, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) the ranking member, said
“I would say at this point we know less than a fraction of what the FBI knows,” Schiff said, adding that if the FBI doesn’t cooperate voluntarily, the committee will have to contemplate whether to subpoena information from Comey’s agency.
On the areas he was willing to discuss, we had a very in depth set of questions and answers,” Schiff said. “But there were very large areas that were walled off and those walls are gonna have to come down if we’re gonna do our job.”
In other venues, Schiff described the FBI as clearly blocking the Congressional investigation.
Wasn’t FBI Director Comey under investigation by the FBI Inspector General for his apparently unethical comments about Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election?
