Trump ordered DHS’s Intelligence arm to investigate the risks from the seven countries in Trump’s Muslim Travel Ban. That investigation would, he announced ahead of the actual investigation, prove that his immigration ban was really just and great, and the claims to the contrary were Fake News!
The DHS, unsurprisingly, found the opposite result. AP broke this story:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Analysts at the Homeland Security Department’s intelligence arm found insufficient evidence that citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries included in President Donald Trump’s travel ban pose a terror threat to the United States.
A draft document obtained by The Associated Press concludes that citizenship is an “unlikely indicator” of terrorism threats to the United States and that few people from the countries Trump listed in his travel ban have carried out attacks or been involved in terrorism-related activities in the U.S. since Syria’s civil war started in 2011.
Why do I say it’s an obvious answer? There hasn’t been a terrorism death from any of the banned countries since, what, 1975?
Zero. Churn up some junk stat to compare to that, and whatever you find, you’re still golden. “More people die falling out of bad.” Sure, why not; I mean, ‘zero’. Guns kill over 30,000 people a year. Roughly the same number as die annually in traffic accidents.
“More people have been shot by toddlers.”
“More people have been killed by shoveling snow.”
“Manhole covers are a higher risk than refugees from these countries.”
“Elevators have killed more people…”
We’re fallen numb to stupid. How sad is it that when DHS management tried to bury the result, we didn’t even shrug. Of course they tried to lie. I mean, Trump, right? What else did we expect? Principles? Don’t be a chump.
Anyway, instead of successfully burying the obvious truth, the effort guaranteed it got leaked, and here we are. Even though he’s heard the full story from his own pet DHS study, the obvious truth is just as unlikely to change Trump’s claims, or deflect any of his actions.
